Weight Management / Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis
We offer Weight Management programmes that are designed to help with weight loss and health issues. These programmes when combined with appropriate exercise are designed to maintain or even increase your muscle rather than losing it which is what happens with some diets. If you do not lose muscle you are much more likely to keep your weight down in the long term, improve your health and wellbeing and you are less likely to have cravings, feel fatigued and depressed - common side effects of many diets.
The first consultation lasts for approximately 75 minutes and may include recommendations for further testing (see Laboratory Testing and Vantage). An assessment of your body composition (i.e. water/muscle/fat) using a Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) is carried out. BIA is a method of assessing your body composition – the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. It also gives us information about your metabolic rate and cellular function and it provides an invaluable tool to monitor progress.
An individual nutritional plan for a balanced healthy diet will be worked out to suit your needs and lifestyle.
Follow up appointments are every two weeks initially and then every four weeks. At each appointment we will retest your body composition to see how you are getting on and provide support and motivation.
